BRAND ORIGIN

From Cambodian source to global Eastern wellness.

NIS NEST begins with source control, swiftlet ecology, and refined craftsmanship, then evolves bird’s nest into a modern wellness ritual for beauty, nourishment, and longevity.

OUR STORY

Three women, one bird’s nest revolution rooted at the source.

The story of NIS NEST began in a traditional family bird’s nest house in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, then evolved into a modern wellness brand shaped by source control, international branding, and female-led market insight.

01 / Rooted at the Source

From family swiftlet house to independent ecosystem.

Co-founder Mey Sang is a true second-generation bird’s nest entrepreneur. She grew up surrounded by swiftlet houses, watching her parents’ generation rely on nature, traditional experience, manual harvesting, and small-scale trading to sustain the family business.

Harvesting by season. Hand-cleaning each nest. Selling through traditional channels. This is the authentic reality behind many Southeast Asian bird’s nest family businesses.

“A truly good bird’s nest does not need excessive decoration. What matters is honesty. And true honesty begins with controlling the source.”

Determined to elevate Cambodia’s bird’s nest industry, Mey Sang traveled to Malaysia to study modern swiftlet house systems, ecological management, and international-standard processing technologies from experienced veteran swiftlet farmers.

Upon returning to Cambodia, she built NIS NEST’s independently operated swiftlet ecosystem. From swiftlet house architecture, bird adaptation systems, ecological environment control, harvesting standards, raw material management, and quality systems, every critical step is directly managed by the NIS NEST team.

02 / Brand IP & Global Vision

The transformation into an international wellness brand.

The true transformation of NIS NEST into an international wellness brand came with the arrival of two additional female co-founders.

Sammie Choong brought a new dimension from international business, creative branding, recruitment, events, advertising, and brand ecosystem development. As the architect behind NIS NEST’s Brand IP system, she leads brand positioning, storytelling, cultural identity, luxury visual language, emotional connection, lifestyle strategy, and long-term global value building.

Having traveled across more than 30 countries, Sammie gained deep exposure to international luxury brands, wellness trends, modern female consumer culture, and evolving lifestyle markets.

“A global brand is not built by products alone. It must carry its own cultural language, aesthetic identity, and emotional soul.”

03 / Modern Market Direction

A younger, more global, lifestyle-driven wellness future.

Keaton Wang joined the founding team as Co-Founder and Marketing Director, bringing cross-disciplinary experience in luxury brand management, fashion design, wellness branding, and international market operations.

A graduate of Istituto Marangoni in Italy with a Master’s Degree in Luxury Brand Management, Keaton also carries educational and professional experience in fashion design and economic law. Before NIS NEST, she founded and managed women-focused fashion and sportswear brands including Chang Jin Qi Designer Label and LUJIASTORIA Women’s Sportswear Brand.

Her experience in health supplement livestream marketing, female wellness consumption, and new media market behavior helped accelerate NIS NEST toward a younger, more international wellness future.

04 / The NIS NEST Evolution

Traditional family swiftlet house → standardized production system → international wellness brand ecosystem.

In 2025, the NIS NEST swiftlet base officially received Cambodia National Certification, becoming a nationally recognized benchmark for bird’s nest quality and ecosystem standards.

Today, NIS NEST integrates Eastern wellness culture, modern female wellness lifestyle, functional superfood concepts, beauty-from-within philosophy, sustainable ecosystem practices, and international luxury brand aesthetics.

NIS NEST hopes to redefine bird’s nest not merely as a traditional delicacy, but as a modern Eastern Wellness Superfood.

PREMIUM EDIBLE BIRD'S NEST

What Is Bird's Nest?

Bird's nest is a natural superfood rich in bioactive compounds. The 2026 catalogue highlights sialic acid, EGF, collagen peptides, and glycoproteins as the core matrix behind its wellness value.

Sialic Acid

A naturally occurring family of compounds studied for roles in glycoproteins, cellular recognition, and nutrition science.

EGF

A growth-factor term discussed in edible bird's nest literature and presented here as food-science education.

Collagen Peptides

Supports skin hydration, elasticity, hair and nail strength, and joint mobility.

Glycoproteins

Protein-carbohydrate structures studied for cellular recognition, nutrient interactions, and functional-food research.

THE GUNNAR BLIX LEGACY

Science Validates Tradition

Modern research meets centuries of wellness wisdom.

Groundbreaking work by Gunnar Blix in the mid-20th century was pivotal in the discovery and naming of sialic acids. In 1936, Blix isolated a crystalline acidic compound from bovine submaxillary mucin; this work laid the biochemical foundation for later research into sialylated glycoproteins, including those studied in edible bird's nest.

Key Discovery

Blix's research established sialic acid as an important family of bioactive compounds. Later edible bird's nest research has focused on Neu5Ac and sialylated mucin glycoproteins as key components. Sialic acids are relevant to:

  • psychologyBrain development and cognitive function
  • shieldImmune system modulation and response
  • hubCellular communication and repair mechanisms
  • schemaNeural pathway formation and maintenance

This foundational glycobiology research provides a credible scientific frame for understanding why edible bird's nest is now studied for its sialic acid-rich glycoprotein matrix.

PROCESS

From Colony to Formula

01 / Harvest

Free-Range Swift Colonies

Our nests are harvested exclusively from registered free-range swift houses in Kampot, Cambodia and Perak, Malaysia. Swifts are never disturbed during nesting season. Harvest occurs only after chicks have fledged — a practice that ensures colony sustainability.

02 / Processing

Cold-Process Cleaning

Within 24 hours of harvest, each nest is hand-cleaned using filtered water and cold-process techniques to remove feathers and impurities without applying heat — preserving the molecular integrity of the glycoprotein matrix that makes bird's nest nutritionally exceptional.

03 / Formulation

Precision Concentration

Each formula grade is produced under controlled food-safety procedures using a low-temperature concentration method. Batch quality checks focus on composition, microbial standards, heavy metals, and traceability before packaging.

04 / Certification

Multi-Standard Compliance

NIS NEST products are certified under GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice), HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points), and Halal standards. Batch records are maintained for full traceability from colony to consumer.
